About Us

Our Story

We believe that every person has stories worth telling and a unique perspective worth sharing.

Why We Do What We Do

Creative Writing Course was founded on a simple observation: most people who want to write never actually start, and many who do start quickly give up. Not because they lack talent or imagination, but because they lack the right guidance and support.

We noticed that traditional writing advice often focused on rules and formulas, telling people what they should write rather than helping them discover what they want to say. This approach doesn't work for everyone—in fact, it doesn't work for most people. Writing is deeply personal, and each writer needs to find their own path.

Our courses emerged from years of working with aspiring writers, observing what helped them move forward and what held them back. We learned that structure without rigidity, guidance without prescription, and constructive feedback without judgment create the ideal conditions for creative growth.

Our Mission

Supporting Writers on Their Creative Journey

Our mission is to provide writers with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to develop their craft whilst maintaining their unique voice. We don't believe in one-size-fits-all approaches to writing education.

Instead, we create learning experiences that respect individual creativity whilst teaching fundamental principles of storytelling and craft. Our courses are designed to meet writers where they are—whether they're taking their first steps or looking to deepen an established practice.

Our Values

What Guides Our Work

Authentic Expression

We believe writers should develop their own voice rather than imitate others. Our courses encourage experimentation and personal expression whilst teaching craft principles.

Constructive Support

Feedback should build writers up, not tear them down. We provide honest, specific guidance that acknowledges strengths whilst identifying areas for growth.

Continuous Learning

Writing is a lifelong practice. Our courses provide a foundation, but we encourage students to continue exploring, reading, and writing long after they complete their studies.

Inclusive Community

We welcome writers from all backgrounds and experience levels. Our courses create a supportive environment where diverse voices are valued and celebrated.

Our Approach

How We Teach Creative Writing

Balance Between Structure and Freedom

Our courses provide clear structure—modules, assignments, deadlines—because structure creates space for creativity. Within that structure, students have freedom to explore topics and styles that interest them. We believe constraints can be liberating rather than limiting.

Theory Informed by Practice

Every concept we teach is immediately applicable. You won't just learn about narrative structure—you'll write scenes that demonstrate it. You won't just study dialogue—you'll craft conversations and receive feedback on them. Theory serves practice, not the other way around.

Reading as a Writer

Understanding how published works achieve their effects is crucial to developing your own craft. Our courses include reading assignments with guided analysis, helping you understand the choices writers make and how those choices shape reader experience.

Revision as Discovery

First drafts are just the beginning. We teach revision not as correction but as continuation of the creative process—a way to discover what your work is truly about and how to express it more effectively.

Rooted in the UK

Based in Cardiff, Wales, we're proud to be part of the UK's vibrant literary community. Our courses reflect the richness of British literary traditions whilst embracing contemporary global voices and perspectives.
